I’ve carefully curated this collection of pianos over many years, and this is where I’ve landed—for now. Each piano works well on its own but even more importantly within the context of a mix. For a long time, I struggled with being able to recall presets instantly. Now, thanks to Ableton’s Instrument Rack, I can switch between them with ease. Inside this rack, you’ll find 14 piano presets, each with its own unique flavor and use case for worship.
To give you creative control in a live setting, I’ve programmed fourteen macros, which you’ll see mapped out for my Novation Launch Control XL inside the included ZIP folder. On top of that, this piano rack is nested inside another instrument rack with additional audio FX and MIDI FX. This second rack includes 9 macro snapshot presets, giving you another layer of tonal variation. Altogether, you have access to 126 different sonic possibilities.
⚠Important: This rack is built strictly with VST3 plugins, so it works on both Mac and PC. It combines Ableton stock devices with Omnisphere. If you don’t have Omnisphere installed, the core sound will not load correctly, but the rack and clips will still function.
SOFTEST — The absolute softest I would use, built with Noire.
SOFT — Noire Piano on my go-to soft felt preset.
NORMAL — Noire Piano on my standard preset, used for about 90% of worship songs.
BIG GRAND — Noire Piano nearly fully bright, blended with additional pianos.
GRAND JANGLE — Normal with tack blended in for a jangly texture.
UPRIGHT 1 — Addictive Keys Upright, versatile all-around upright.
UPRIGHT 2 — Keyscape Wing Upright, more nuanced tone.
AWAKE MY SOUL — Shaped for the “Awake My Soul” tone.
EP — A mellow suitcase Rhodes sound.
EP BETHEL — Rhodes tone inspired by “Anything is Possible.”
80’s — A heavily chorused digital piano.
80’s 2 — The same digital piano layered with Noire.
PARTICLES 1 — Noire particles engine for ambient texture.
PARTICLES 2 — Noire particles with Blueprint Piano for maximum texture.
DRY — No FX added.
OCTAVE UP — MIDI FX adds an octave above your playing.
CHORD STRUM — Strummed chord effect triggered from a single note.
LOFI STRUM — The same chord strum with lo-fi character, summed to mono.
LOFI — EQ, vibrato, and saturation with mono output.
STEREO LOFI — Stereo version of the lo-fi effect.
CRUSHED — Gentle overdrive added.
MORE COMP — Extra compression blended in.
MONO KEYS — Forces the current preset into mono.
This rack uses third-party virtual instruments and effects. If you do not already own and install these, some sounds will not load correctly. Assuming you have all of the required software, everything should work exactly as intended.
